Buffs Finish 14th At Big 12 Championship

DALLAS — Colorado couldn't overcome another slow start, closing out the 2026 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship in 14th place, Saturday at the Dallas Athletic Club Gold Course.

The Buffaloes finished at 60-over-par for the championship, falling one spot in the standings after shooting a season-high 29-over in the third round.

No. 25 Iowa State won the team title at 5-under. The Cyclones were the only team to finish in the red after firing off a tournament-best round of 7-under on Saturday. No. 36 Houston was the runner-up at 1-over while No. 15 UCF, the top-ranked Big 12 team, placed third at 6-over. No. 21 Oklahoma State and No. 22 Arizona State tied for fourth at 10-over.

Colorado, which entered the tournament as the No. 11 seed, had hoped a strong finish in Friday's second round would equate to a good start on Saturday. After a rough start on the front nine in the second round, the Buffaloes rallied to shoot 4-under on the back, including a stretch of seven birdies and no bogeys between the 10th and 13th.

Adding to the hope of a great start was that Colorado was set to begin the final round on the back, where it had enjoyed its most success the first two days.

Unfortunately, that good fortune never materialized. Instead, Colorado opened that same four-hole stretch to begin that back nine at 7-over, with just one birdie by junior Carolyn Fuller at the par-5 13th, during that run and the Buffaloes never recovered.

Colorado's four scoring golfers only netted five birdies for the entire round. The only golfer with multiple birdies was sophomore Ellen O'Shaughnessy, who made hers on the par-3 17th and later in her round on the par-4 fourth. The Buffaloes had eight double bogeys on the day.

Junior Maya McVey was Colorado's top finisher for the championship, tying for 48th at 13-over. She also had the Buffaloes' best round of the day with a 77. Fuller shot a 79 in Saturday's final round to finish in a tie for 53rd at 15-over.

Freshman Teemapat Pateetin finished 60th overall at 21-over while Vanessa Ngo was 62nd at 23-over after both shot 82 in the final round. O'Shaughnessy ended in 63rd place at 25-over with a 79 on Saturday.

Iowa State's Nichakorn Pinprayoon and UCF's Mila Jurine shared medalist honors at 7-under.

Colorado, ranked 47th nationally and one of 11 Big 12 teams ranked in the top 50, now awaits its postseason future with the announcement of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship field on Wednesday, April 29, at 2 p.m. MT, live on the Golf Channel. The NCAA Championship features 72 teams with regionals at six different sites, May 11-13.
