April 06, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER – Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle has been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Award winner for 2026, the organization announced this weekend at the NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis.
In its 30th year, the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer program presents the Champion Award to a coach who demonstrates incredible commitment, passion, and determination to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
"I am humbled and honored to receive this award," Boyle said. "Coaches vs. Cancer is such a special organization that has helped and will continue to help eradicate cancer and extend lives worldwide. The coaching community plays a small role in this endeavor and I am grateful to play a part."
Boyle, who just completed his 16th season as Colorado's head coach, has been a steady and supportive presence at the Coaches vs. Cancer Denver Golf Classic, which returns for its fourth year on June 8 at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker.
Boyle has been a staple at the event's "Mission Hole," speaking to golfers about the American Cancer Society and the Road to Recovery program. He takes the lead in welcoming everyone at the driving range before the shotgun start and shares his own connections to cancer, making the event especially meaningful.
With Boyle's dedication, alongside NABC Associate Executive Director, Nate Pomeday, the coaching presence at the Coaches vs. Cancer Denver Golf Classic has grown each year and their commitment is instrumental in driving the organization's mission forward.
Boyle also serves on the Coaches vs. Cancer National Council, playing an integral role in determining the direction and impact of the Coaches vs. Cancer program.
