Colorado Sets up for Senior Weekend

April 07, 2026 | Tennis

BOULDER – The No. 66 Colorado Buffaloes tennis team is setting up to host the last weekend of regular season competition, facing No. 34 Baylor and No. 20 TCU, Thursday and Saturday at the Meadows Club.

This past week, Colorado hit the road facing Arizona and Arizona State, going 0-2 on the weekend despite a close match against Arizona. The Buffs brought it down to the last match following a doubles point and two singles victories, falling just short in the tiebreak, 4-3.

"Just like everyone else in the Big 12, these are two great teams," said head coach Anthony Pham. "The results show that there is so much talent in our conference, and that any given day anyone can beat anyone."

The Buffs begin competition on Thursday facing Baylor, holding a 6-17 series record against the Bears. In their last matchup in March of last year, the Buffs fell short in a 4-2 finish in Waco. Colorado looks for its first victory over

Baylor since 2006, marking a dominant 5-2 victory at home.

Baylor holds a 12-7 overall record this season, and 7-4 in conference. The Bears have notched three ranked wins this season, downing then No. 62 Kansas State, No. 39 San Diego, and No. 30 Utah.

The Bears house two ranked singles players, No. 61 Na Dong and No. 114 Zuzanna Kubacha. Dong marks a 11-4 record in singles this season, primarily at the top spot. Kubacha holds a 14-3 record for Baylor, all but one victory recorded at the No. 2 position.

As for TCU, the Buffs have faced the Horned Frogs just four times before this weekend. TCU has recorded a win in all four since 1978, the last being March of 2025 in Fort Worth, notching a 4-0 win.

The Horned Frogs are 16-3 this season and 9-2 in conference play. TCU has found seven ranked victories, including the dominant win over then No. 6 Arizona State, in a 4-0 sweep.

The Horned Frogs are home to No. 83 singles player Raquel Caballero Chica. Chica is 7-3 this season, with all victories notched at the top position.

"Match to match, week to week, everything is a little different," said Pham. "It's our last two home matches, we have senior day, and we want to send off our seniors the right way. They've poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this team, and we want to give them the send out they deserve."

Competition will begin at 2 p.m. (MT) on Thursday against Baylor, and 2 p.m. on Saturday against TCU, with a celebration being held for seniors Anya Nelson and Rixt van der Werff. More information and live results can be found @cubuffstennis.
