Buffaloes Open Fall Season In Washington

BOULDER – Colorado women's golf is set for its season debut at the Leadership and Golf Invitational, Monday, Sept. 14, at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
Co-hosted by Seattle U and Washington, the 54-hole event begins with the first two rounds on Monday, followed by a final 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Both days will feature a shotgun start, beginning at 9 a.m. MT.
A links-style course, Chambers Bay will typically play just under 6,100 yards for a par 72.
The Buffaloes bring a familiar lineup to a familiar venue. Colorado opens its fall season at Chambers Bay for the fourth time, and all five golfers who played in last season's event make the return trip.
Carolyn Fuller returns after leading the Buffaloes in scoring average last season at 73.14. Junior Ellen O'Shaughnessy was second on the team at 74.37. Maya McVey is in her fourth collegiate season, second with Colorado, and averaged 74.71 in 2025-26 with a pair of top-5 finishes.
Second-year golfers Teemapat Pateetin and Brenna Higgins made their collegiate debuts in Washington last year. Pateetin was the Buffaloes' low 54-hole scorer in last year's event, tying for 20th overall at 6-over. She would go on to play in all but one event during her freshman year, with a 74.63 scoring average.
"We could not be more excited to get the season started," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "It's beneficial to return to Chambers Bay with a group who all know the course from last year since you can really benefit from course knowledge here. Tomorrow will be an endurance test, and we feel prepared mentally and physically to take it on."
The 2026 Leadership and Golf Invitational will feature 17 teams, mostly from the western half of the country. For the first two rounds, Colorado will be grouped with Gonzaga, Santa Clara and CSU Long Beach. With the shotgun start, those groups will begin between the fourth and eighth tees at 9 a.m. MT.
