Alina Hartmann survived the biggest learning curve of any first-year Buffalo; learning a new country and in many ways a new style of basketball. She was able to adapt to the U.S.A. and its style play and after another summer of playing for the German national team, Hartmann will be ready to grow even more into her role as a collegiate player. She is the 15th international player to suit up for the Buffaloes; the 11th from Europe and first from Germany, signing to play with Colorado in April 2014.

2014-15 (Freshman): Played in 31 games averaging 2.5 points and 1.0 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per game. One of Colorado's better outside shooters, on limited attempts. Hartmann hit 48 percent from the floor with nearly half those attempts coming from 3-point range. Beyond the arc, she hit a solid 45 percent, nailing 13 of 29 attempts. She played a career-most 22 minutes against Wyoming (12/21) scoring seven points and grabbing three rebounds where she and fellow classmate Brecca Thomas played a major role in the Buffs win against the Cowgirls. She never took more than three 3-point attempts in any one game, but had three games where she made at least two. Hartmann's biggest game came in the home win over Washington State (2/13) where she scored 11 points on 4-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. She also had four rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in just 12 minutes against the Cougars. Hartmann had a solid outing in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament against USC (3/5) hitting on both of her 3-point attempts to finish with six points with three rebounds and an assist.

Club Basketball: Hartmann is a 2014 graduate of Kaiser-Heinrich-Gymnasium in Bamberg. Her basketball upbringing has come on the club circuit and international play as the high school level is not played in Germany. She played for DJK Brose Bamberg, a club team which competes in the 1st German Division. In 22 games for Bamberg in 2013-14 she averaged 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds while hitting 42.5 percent from the field. Hartmann led Bamberg with 29 3-point field-goals, hitting a solid 42.6 percent beyond the arc, and ranked second on the team in rebounds and third in scoring. She averaged 7.7 points for Bamberg in both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

German National Team: A veteran of Germany’s junior national basketball program, Hartmann averaged 8.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help her team to a first place showing at the 2014 U20 European Championship for Women Division B in Sofia, Bulgaria, with an 8-1 record. She scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting against Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a 68-50 win that ensured Germany a promotion into the A Division for the U20 tournament. Hartmann played in six games for her country which placed 10th at the 2013 U18 European Championships, Division B, in Miskolc, Hungary. She starred for Germany’s gold medal winning team at the 2011 U16 European Championships, Division B, in Arad, Romania. Hartmann averaged 10.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals as team Germany swept the competition with a 9-0 mark. Hartmann scored 18 points on 46.7 percent from the field (7-of-15) and grabbed seven rebounds in a 71-64 semifinal win over Bulgaria; a win which earned Germany, along with fellow finalist England, a promotion into the A Division. In the gold medal game, Hartmann had nine points and seven rebounds in a 66-63 win over England. She was also on Germany’s U16 European Championships team in 2010, appearing in five games. Hartmann was invited to practice with Germany’s senior national team this past summer.

Academics: Hartmann is an International Affairs major at Colorado and is also interested in Communication.

Personal: Born Alina Hartmann on October 23, 1995, she is the daughter of Roland and Brigit Hartmann. She has one sister, Anika (14).
