Bio
2018-19 (Sophomore): Carter earned her first career start at Washington (1/11). She played in 89 total minutes, averaging 4.2 per game. She scored a season-high seven points in her 10 minutes against Prairie View A&M. She recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds on the season.
2017-18 (Freshman): Carter, who originally was a walk-on, earned a scholarship during the fall and proceeded to play in 20 games as the team’s backup point guard. She averaged 2.8 points and 1.5 assists, totaling 55 points, 29 assists and 10 rebounds. Carter scored a season-high 12 points on 5-fo-8 shooting and also had a season-high eight assists in a win over North Dakota State on Nov. 29. She scored six points in back-to-back games on Jan. 12 and Jan. 14 vs. USC and No. 14/14 UCLA. Carter played a season-high 23 minutes and scored eight points, including two 3-pointers, at No. 22/25 Arizona State on Jan. 21.
High School: Carter was a four-year letterwinner at Monarch High School. She was named first-team all-conference, first-team USA All-Colorado and honorable mention Class 5A all-state as a senior when she averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals. She led Monarch to a 16-7 record and a trip to the state tournament as the No. 10 seed. Carter scored in double figures 20 times with a season-high of 26 against Rocky Mountain on Feb. 14. As a junior, Carter averaged 15.2 points and 4.0 assists to earn first-team all-conference. She helped the team to the state tournament semifinals as a sophomore, averaging 5.5 points. She played a key role in the postseason that year, hitting seven consecutive free throws at the end of the team's Sweet 16 win to clinch the victory. Also an excellent student, she was named first-team Academic All-State as a junior and senior. She's also a member of the National Honor Society. At Monarch, she was coached by former CU women’s basketball standout Gail Hook, along with Bill Bradley. With the Boulder Rockies AAU team, Carter led the team to a number of championships. In 2016, the Rockies won the Nike national championship in Washington D.C. and the USJN Mountain West championship. Her team also won those two tournaments in 2015. She was named to all-star teams at the Windy City Classic and the Blue Star Nationals tournament.
Academics: Carter plans on majoring in integrative physiology at Colorado and would like to become a pediatrician after graduation.
Personal: Peyton Carter was born on Aug. 1, 1999, to Steven Carter and Michelle Evans. Her older sister Alex Evans played basketball at CSU-Pueblo and she has a younger brother Greysen Carter. Outside of basketball she enjoys babysitting, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of a record-holding relay team at Rock Creek Flyers Swimming Club.
