Bailey Cheetham, originally from Lake Oswego, Oregon, a talented NCAA Division I student-athlete, and emerging coach will enter her first season as a women’s lacrosse assistant coach at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2025.
 
Cheetham arrives in Boulder after a standout playing career, where she showcased her skills over five competitive seasons at the collegiate level. As a two-time captain of Johns Hopkins University Lacrosse, Cheetham finished her career with over 100 points, 78 ground balls, 26 draws and 27 caused turnovers. In 2024, she became the record-leader for assists in Johns Hopkins midfielder history and ranked third in the Big Ten in assists.
 
During her time at Hopkins, Cheetham demonstrated exceptional offensive capabilities, contributing to her team’s success with pivotal performances against ranked opponents, including game-winning goals against Rutgers and Michigan in the Big Ten Quarterfinals.
 
Cheetham’s foundational experience began at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, where she accumulated a remarkable record of 151 goals and 125 assists over four years. Her leadership qualities shone as she captained Deerfield’s soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse teams, earning accolades as a New England Prep All-Star. Cheetham was the recipient of the Deerfield Cup, awarded to a graduating senior for their attitude in the classroom, sportsmanship on the field, and conduct among fellow students that best exemplifies the Deerfield Academy ideals. Additionally, Cheetham was elected as the first female Captain Deerfield, embodying school values.
 
Beyond lacrosse, Cheetham is passionate about community service and health care, having completed medical internships in dermatology and ophthalmology both in the United States and in Valencia, Spain. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and global medicine and received a master’s degree in health care management at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School in spring of 2024. Currently, Cheetham is a member of the post-baccalaureate premedical program at The University of Colorado Boulder and will be applying to medical school.
 
Cheetham’s love of coaching has grown since the club level in Oregon, California, Massachusetts, and Maryland. Growing up in a family committed to sports, Bailey’s dedication to lacrosse reflects a broader commitment to fostering talent and making a positive impact on the lives of young athletes. She aims to inspire and mentor her players, instilling in them the values of teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
