    Assistant Director/Athletic Communications (VB/WBB)
  • Email:
Malala Pyle joined the CU Athletic Department in June 2024 as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. In her role, she oversees the communications and social media efforts for the volleyball and women's basketball teams, and she serves as the primary contact for both sports. She also oversees the department's student assistant program.

Pyle was formerly the primary contact for lacrosse in her first season with the Buffs.

Before arriving at CU, she served as a Sports Brands & Communications Assistant in the University of Southern California Athletic Department from Fall 2022 to Spring 2024, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the USC Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism.

As an SB&C Assistant, she served as the secondary contact for both indoor volleyball teams and the seven-time National Championship winning beach volleyball team. As secondary contact for beach volleyball, she oversaw all social media efforts, including two NCAA titles (2023, 2024) and the final beach volleyball Pac-12 Championship (2023).

Additionally during college, she had summer internships with the Oakland Athletics and the Golden State Warriors. She also served as a sports editor for Annenberg Media, and as chief copyeditor from 2021-2022 for the Daily Trojan.

She has been an active member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) since 2023.

Born on April 6 in Greenbrae, Calif., she graduated from The Branson School in June 2020. Ironically, neither of her parents are sports people – her love for sports comes through her god-father, who played basketball at Harvard and was the head coach at Branson for 29 years. Both her god-siblings also played sports – her sister played soccer at Colorado College and her brother played basketball at Washington University in St. Louis. Pyle currently resides in Broomfield, and in her free time enjoys hiking, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and spending time at the beach.
