Longhorns Down Spikers in Three

The University of Colorado volleyball team (9-9, 3-5 Big 12) fell to the No. 25 Texas Longhorns (15-3, 7-2) 28-30, 28-30, 24-30 Wednesday night here at the Coors Events/Conference Center. Colorado has now lost five of their last six matches.
"We are struggling right now, and we have to start mixing things up," Colorado head coach Pi'i aiu said. "Right now nothing is working. We need our players to step up and start making plays."
Colorado hit .077 on the night as opposed to Texas' .174 hitting percentage. The Buffs were out-blocked 14-10 in the match.
"It's all mental - we are stuck in a funk," junior middle blocker Monique Gerlach said. "We are in a ditch, digging ourselves deeper and deeper."
Senior middle blocker Meghan Barkman led the Buffs statistically with a team-high 14 kills while she hit .258j on the night, leading the team with seven blocks. Senior left side hitter Kim Taskey registered 11 digs on the night, the seventh time this season she has led the Buffs on defense.
Kathy Hahn registered 13 kills for the Longhorns as she posted a .524 hitting percentage, while Mira Topic also registered double-figure offensive numbers with 10 kills in the match. Texas is unbeaten in their last seven contests.
Colorado will now hit the road to face Texas Tech on October 19 in Lubbock and Iowa State on October 23 in Ames. They return home to host Kansas State on October 26 at 7 p.m. at the Coors Events/Conference Center in Boulder.
