CU set to take on Prairie View A&M on Wednesday

BOULDER—The longest homestand of the season continues for the University of Colorado women's basketball team. The Buffaloes will take on Prairie View A&M on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in the third of its seven straight home games.

CU has enjoyed the home cooking so far this season. The Buffs own a perfect 6-0 record at the CU Events Center. Colorado has won its last eight in the CEC, dating back to its final two wins at home to end the 2017-18 season. The Buffs have built a decisive home-court advantage in the last three seasons. Colorado owns a 27-13 record at home under head coach JR Payne

Colorado's offense has scored 72.8 points per game on Sox Walseth Court this season. By contrast, the Buffs are averaging 67.0 points away from home.

The current homestand takes the team into the first week of the New Year. CU has positioned themselves well in the preseason. The Buffs are tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with two games left in the non-conference slate. Colorado will open the conference season on Dec. 30 against Utah.

"We are playing a real variety of teams," Payne previously explained. "We have played really athletic teams. We have played really skilled teams. We have played big and we have played small. That in of itself prepares us for the Pac-12."

Senior Kennedy Leonard has hit a pair of milestones during the homestand. She passed 1,500 career points against San Jose State and handed out her 600th career assists against Navy Leonard is on the verge of becoming CU's all-time assist leader. She is just 11 helpers shy from tying Bridget Turner (612). She has twice handed out 10 or more assists this season.

"600 is a lot [of assists]," Leonard said after playing Navy. "I mean it will be cool to get that record. That assist record is not because of me it is because of my teammates. They are the ones who made 600 shots. I am thankful for them every day and I am thankful to come to work every day and do what I love."

Perimeter Breach: CU has shot a combined 19.5 percent (17-87) from 3-point distance in its last four games. The Buffs hit a season-low 1-for-12 against Pepperdine and continued to struggle at Miami (5-28) and against San Jose State (7-35). The Buffs started 4-for-5 against Navy but closed 0-for-7 in the second half.

1,000 pts x 2: Kennedy Leonard moved into 11th all-time at CU passing 1,500 career points against SJSU (1,523). Alexis Robinson became the 31st player in CU history to reach 1,000 career points (at Miami). They are the only active Buffs with 1,000+ points. The two players have combined for 2,537 career points.

Helping Hand: Colorado totaled a season-high 20 assists against SJSU. The Buffs have totaled 15 or more assists in four games this season. Leonard has accounted for more than half of CU's assists this season (72-of-136).

Now Boarding: CU is sixth in the Pac-12 with 41.89 rebounds per game. Colorado totaled 56 total rebounds against Colorado State, tied for the fourth most in school history. CU has a +6.0 rebounding margin. The Buffs have been outrebounded twice this season (at Miami and Navy).

Promotions: Wednesday's game is Wacky Wednesday and $1 hot dog night.

Wednesday's game will be streamed on Colorado Live Stream channel. Fans can listen to the Buffs all season long on AM 630 (KHOW).
