BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes track and field program hosted day one of the CU Invitational Friday afternoon, with multiple personal records set along the way.
Colorado was able to secure event wins in the women's weight throw and women's high jump.
Amanda Opp captured her first event win of the indoor season, with a 17.01-meter throw in the weight throw. It marks a season-best score for the junior.
It was a clean sweep for the Buffs in the women's high jump, with CU claiming the top five spots. Sophomore Riley Ward jumped a personal record of 1.76 meters, breaking her previous high of 1.75 meters, which she set last month.
Ava Goetz and Allie Routledge tied for a second-place finish with a jump of 1.71 meters. It's a personal record for Goetz with a jump of 1.71 meters, breaking her previous record of 1.66 meters. That distance also ties a season-high for Routledge. Riley Burkey (1.61 meters) and Eva Bruce (1.56 meters) rounded out the top five for the women's high jump.
Drake Miller jumped a personal high of 4.85 meters on Friday, good enough to claim second place on the podium for the men's pole vault. His previous best was during the last indoor season, at the Ken Shannon Last Chance meet, where he jumped 4.55 meters. His 4.85 meter jump now ranks as eighth all-time in CU history on the men's side for the pole vault.
TERRIER CLASSIC
The Buffs also sent a small contingent of student-athletes to Boston Friday afternoon. Jessie Secor and Katja Baeuerle and both set personal-records on the day. Secor ran a time of 9:02.81 in the 3000 meter race, which now marks as the fifth-fastest time in CU history among the women's side. Baeuerle clocked in a time of 4:41.36 in the mile, a personal-best time at CU for the graduate student.
