October 17, 2026 | Women's Golf
STANFORD, Calif. – The Colorado women's golf team is in 12th place after the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, played Saturday at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Buffaloes are 24-over-par on Stanford's 6,267-yard, par-71 course, following Saturday's 9-over round, six strokes better than Friday's opening 18 holes. The effort moved Colorado up two spots in the standings, just five strokes out of the top 10 entering Sunday's final round.
No. 12-ranked Stanford is in first place after two rounds at 24-under, increasing its lead over No. 4 Virginia from five to 12 shots. The Cavaliers hold a strong second, 12 shots ahead of No. 2 USC.
Colorado started the day well, playing the front nine at 3-over. The Buffaloes cut down on the big-number holes, recording just three double-bogey or worse, two of them on the first five holes. Colorado improved to 2-over through 14, recording seven of its nine birdies between the sixth and 13th, but struggled on the final five holes, playing those at 7-over, including three bogeys at the 18th.
"We leaked some shots down toward the end, which was disappointing, but definitely improved overall," Colorado Head Coach Madeleine Sheils said. "We're looking forward to getting one more crack at the course tomorrow morning and PlayingForHer."
Senior Maya McVey continues to lead the Buffaloes' effort after carding her second-straight round of 1-over 72. McVey had a great start, playing the front nine at 2-under after opening with six straight pars and adding birdies at the 490-yard par-5 seventh and 364-yard par-4 ninth. She remained at 2-under through 13, but dropped three strokes over her final four holes to tie for 25th at 2-over through 36 holes.
Senior Carolyn Fuller had the best single round of the day for Colorado, shooting an even-par 71, six shots better than her first-day score. Fuller quickly moved to 1-under after a birdie on the 423-yard par-4 fourth. She dropped back to 1-over at the turn, but returned to even thanks to birdies on the 376-yard par-4 10th and the 477-yard par-5 12th. Fuller cruised from there, making par on her final six holes and is tied for 47th at 6-over.
"Really great to see Carolyn back in form today; she played a very solid round of golf," Sheils said. "Maya continues to be rock solid. Her consistency is super impressive.
Junior Ellen O'Shaughnessy and sophomore Brenna Higgins are tied with five others for 65th at 8-over. Higgins had the better of the two rounds on Saturday, carding a 74. She was 3-over through nine, but played even the rest of the way, aided by birdies at the 12th and the 461-yard par-4 15th. O'Shaughnessy shot a 76.
Sophomore Teemapat Pateetin is tied for 89th at 15-over following a 77 on Saturday.
Stanford's Meja Ortengren leads after two rounds at 10-under, after scoring a 6-under 65 on Saturday. She holds a two-stroke lead over her teammate, Andrea Revuelta.
Colorado will group with Iowa State, UC Davis and San Jose State for Sunday's final round beginning at 9:30 a.m. MT between the eighth and 11th holes with a shotgun start.
