Buffaloes ‘PlayforHer’ At Stanford
October 15, 2026 | Women's Golf
BOULDER – Colorado women's golf continues its fall season this weekend at a familiar location and supporting an important cause.
The Buffaloes are set for the 2026 Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Oct. 16-18, at the Stanford Golf Course on the former conference rival's campus.
Colorado is one of 17 teams competing at Stanford Intercollegiate, which will feature three rounds of 18 holes each day on the 6,267-yard, par-71 course. It will be the fifth time in the last six seasons that the Buffaloes are playing at the Stanford Fall event, which annually draws the nation's elite each year.
All 17 teams participating are in the top 100 of the first NCAA Scoreboard by Clippd rankings, released on Oct. 14. The field includes 10 top 50 teams and six in the top 25, headlined by No. 2 USC, No. 4 Virginia and No. 8 UCLA. Colorado debuted at No. 78.
Since 2023, the Stanford Intercollegiate has supported the PlayforHer campaign, uniting the collegiate golf community in the fight against breast cancer and honoring those who have fought, are fighting, or may one day fight breast cancer.
Over the past three years, the women's college golf community has raised more than $620,000 for life-saving breast cancer research—helping advance innovative treatments while sharing the powerful stories of the women who inspire us every day. This year, the players competing at the Stanford Intercollegiate are proudly playing for Christine Romer, a former California golfer, LPGA teaching professional, and 15-year breast cancer survivor.
"It's a real privilege to be a part of this tournament," Colorado Head Coach Madeleine Sheils said. "The amount of money raised is pretty staggering to go towards research, and with one in eight women being affected by breast cancer in their lifetime, I think the opportunity to educate and make the young women in the tournament aware of those statistics and what they can do to stay healthy and look after themselves is incredibly important. And so we're really happy to be a part of here and be to be here and be a part of this effort."

On the course, Colorado will start its five golfers who have played in the three previous tournaments this fall. Sophomore Brenna Higgins has been Colorado's low scorer the last two events, playing 1-under-par combined over her last six rounds.
Senior Maya McVey leads Colorado in scoring average at 71.44, shooting 5-under over nine rounds. Senior Carolyn Fuller holds a 73.78 scoring average on the season. Junior Ellen O'Shaughnessy and sophomore Teemapat Pateetin round out Colorado's lineup.
The Buffaloes held their own at last year's Stanford Intercollegiate, finishing eighth at 9-over and defeating eight top-40 teams in the process.
"We love coming back here, and it's so great to be able to test ourselves against some top teams in the country and to play on a championship golf course that we could potentially see in the postseason as well," Sheils said. "I think the Stanford Golf Course challenges every part of your game, and so it's really important to remain level-headed and compete according to your plan all the way through till the final hole because there are some difficult holes out there, but there are also a lot of opportunities to score."
Colorado will group with individuals from Stanford and Virginia in Friday's first round with those pairings starting off the No. 10 tee beginning at 12:45 p.m.
