Buffs Finish Eighth At Ron Moore Intercollegiate
October 04, 2026 | Women's Golf
HIGHLANDS RANCH – The Colorado women's golf team enjoyed its best of three rounds at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, on Sunday, finishing in eighth at the University of Denver Golf Club.
Â
Colorado finished 1-over-par in the final round to end the 54-hole event at the par-72, 6,620-yard DU course at 11-over. Â The Buffaloes stood pat in the standings after jumping two spots between rounds one and two earlier in the weekend.
Â
"It was our best day of the weekend, but I don't think anyone was super satisfied overall with their play," Colorado Head Coach Madeleine Sheils said. "We just felt like we didn't have our best stuff."
Â
UNLV claimed the team title at 6-under, one stroke better than Xavier (-5). Tulane finished third, the only other team in the red at 1-under.
Â
Colorado benefitted from its top four playing within a stroke of even. Sophomore Brenna Higgins led the way at 1-under. Senior Carolyn Fuller shot an even-par 72 while Ellen O'Shaughnessy and Maya McVey both shot 1-over.
Â
All four found places to score while avoiding double-bogey or higher numbers. The group took advantage of the par 5s, playing those four holes at a combined 4-under. The Buffaloes' quartet each birdied the 486-yard 18th.
Â
"The 18th was moved up today, so it became easier, but it was good to see those four take advantage for sure," Sheils said.
Â
With Colorado's lone sub-par round of the weekend, Higgins claimed the squad's low 54-hole score for the second-straight tournament, tying for 15th at even par. She made six birdies and, with her final two on par 4s at the sixth and seventh, notched her second career top-20 finish.
Â
McVey also posted a top-20 finish, shooting 1-over 73 on Sunday, ending an impressive streak of eight consecutive rounds of par or better to begin the season. She tied five others for 19th at 1-over.
Â
O'Shaughnessy also carded a 73, matching her first-round output and tying for 28th overall at 5-over. She had four birdies on the day, including back-to-back red numbers at the fifth and sixth.
Â
Fuller put together her best of three rounds at the DU course, shooting a 72. She was 1-over through her first six holes, before making three birdies in a four-hole stretch to close out the back nine. Fuller dropped two of those strokes on the turn to the front, but played even the rest of the way to tie for 31st at 7-over.
Â
Sophomore Ananthi Vivek closed out her first tournament of the season, tying for 78th at 19-over. Isabella Piazza, playing as an individual, shot 75 on Sunday to finish tied for 73rd at 16-over. Teemapat Pateetin, also playing as an individual, placed 81st at 20-over after a 79 on Sunday.
Â
Tulane's Sophia Macias, Xavier's Isabel Brozena and Denver's Logan Hale shared medalist honors at 7-under.
Â
Colorado will continue its fall season Oct. 16-18 at the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.
