BOULDER — The No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes Soccer team returns to Prentup Field Friday, Oct. 30, looking to carry the momentum of a three-match road sweep into its matchup with Cincinnati.
The Buffaloes (12-4-1, 6-3-0 Big 12) return home riding a three-match winning streak after collecting all nine available conference points on the road. Colorado outscored Kansas State, Arizona and Arizona State by a combined 9-2 margin, earning consecutive shutouts to close the trip and securing a spot in the Big 12 Tournament.
With two regular-season matches remaining, Colorado will look to build on that momentum as the conference standings continue to take shape. The Buffs enter Friday with 18 points in Big 12 play and an 8-1 record at Prentup Field.
"I think there's a lot of parity in the league, and we're excited to be there," Head Coach Danny Sanchez said following Sunday's win at Arizona State. "But we still got work to get done in the regular season."
Cincinnati (4-7-5, 2-5-2 Big 12) arrives in Boulder following a 1-0 victory over Kansas State on Sunday. Junior forward Tiana Campbell scored the match's only goal in the ninth minute, giving the Bearcats their second conference victory of the season.
Campbell has provided much of Cincinnati's offensive production, leading the Bearcats with six goals and accounting for half of the team's 12 goals this season. The junior transfer from Concord has emerged as the team's primary scoring threat, while Bryana Gaynor has contributed two goals.
Defensively, goalkeeper Amber Brandon recorded four saves against Kansas State to earn her fifth career shutout. The Bearcats have allowed 17 goals through 16 matches, carrying a 1.06 goals-against average into Friday's contest.
Cincinnati's conference record includes narrow defeats to Baylor (2-1) and BYU (1-0), along with draws against Kansas and Houston. The Bearcats are 1-6-1 away from home this season, with their lone road victory coming against Northern Kentucky on Sept. 6.
"They're a tough out. They're coached well. They don't give you a lot. We have to be able to find a goal," Sanchez said of Cincinnati.
Colorado holds a 2-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last met in Cincinnati on Oct. 17, 2024, playing to a scoreless draw. Friday marks the Bearcats' first visit to Boulder since Colorado earned a 1-0 victory in 2015.
BACK AT PRENTUP
Colorado returns home after one of its strongest stretches of conference play, scoring nine goals across three road matches while conceding just twice. The Buffs followed their 3-2 comeback victory at Kansas State with consecutive shutouts against Arizona and Arizona State, outscoring the two Arizona schools 6-0.
The latest victory came Sunday in Tempe, where sisters Hope and Faith Leyba each scored on headers in their home state. Hope opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Faith doubled the advantage in the 62nd, completing a memorable afternoon for the Phoenix natives.
Hope's goal was her 10th of the season and 42nd of her Colorado career, tying Nikki Marshall for second in program history. The senior forward enters Friday one goal away from claiming sole possession of second place.
Faith has also provided an offensive spark from the backline, scoring in consecutive matches against Arizona and Arizona State. Her efforts on both ends of the field earned the senior defender her first Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor Wednesday. The 2025 Third Team United Soccer Coaches All-American was also selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy midseason watch list earlier this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Goerish has anchored Colorado's defensive effort, recording seven saves against Arizona State for her sixth solo shutout of the season. The Buffs have recorded 10 team shutouts through 17 matches, including six at Prentup Field.
Colorado's attack has averaged 2.35 goals per match this season, with senior midfielder Reagan Kotschau leading the team with 28 points on nine goals and 10 assists. Her 10 assists tie Colorado's single-season record, leaving her one away from establishing a new program mark. Michaela McGowan has contributed six goals, while Jace Holley has provided another option in the attack since returning to the lineup.
The Buffaloes have outscored opponents 27-4 at home this season. Friday presents an opportunity to continue that success before Colorado closes the regular season against Oklahoma State on Thursday, Nov. 5.
"If you want to come out and just support young, talented, but really good people, we have two more opportunities in the regular season," Sanchez said. "We'd love to see you on Friday at 7."
