February 14, 2026 | Women's Basketball
BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team (18-8, 9-5 Big 12) defeated BYU (17-9, 6-8 Big 12), 76-46, at the CU Events Center on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The Buffaloes saw a slow start to the game but picked up momentum throughout the first quarter and held the Cougars to their lowest scoring first quarter this season. Colorado extended their lead in the second quarter, ending the half ahead by 23. The Black and Gold carried the energy into the second half to beat the Cougars, 76-46.
"I knew we were going to play well, because we were very focused," head coach JR Payne stated. "We knew this was a really important game for us, but I did not necessarily see that coming. I thought our effort on the glass, our effort in transition, and our defensive effort were absolutely unbelievable. So really, really beyond proud of how we played; our team continues to show tremendous balance and tremendous fight."
The Buffs had more rebounds (50-26), points in the paint (40-30), second-chance points (17-2) and assists (18-8). Colorado had a higher field goal percentage (45%-31%), three-point field goal percentage (29%-12%) and free throw percentage (81%-77%).

C Jade Crook extended the lead to five after converting on a triple from a Wooten assist (7-2, CU). Fr. G Erianna Gooden made both free throws after the media timeout before BYU scored in the paint to end a 7-0 Colorado run (9-4, CU). Masogayo grabbed another offensive rebound the next drive down the floor, which Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat capitalized on with an old-fashioned three-point play (12-4, CU). Wooten then joined the offensive rebound party and drove inside for a bucket, but the Cougars answered by splitting two free throws (14-5, CU). Walker then drew a foul and made one out of two from the stripe before the Cougars hit their first three pointer of the game (15-8, CU). Masogayo scored a layup, then Jr. G Maeve McErlane grabbed a steal to end the quarter (17-8, CU).
The second quarter began with a Masogayo bucket, then Dutat scored through contact again to extend the Buffs' lead to double digits (22-8, CU). Greer then made one out of two free throws before a BYU layup (23-9, CU). Masogayo went back inside for her fourth bucket of the game, and the Cougars responded with one of their own in the paint (25-12, CU). So. F Tabitha Betson hit a triple, and Gooden turned a BYU double dribble offense into another Colorado layup inside (30-12, CU). After the media timeout, Masogayo scored her 10th point in the first half and a Betson jumper and three pointer made it a 12-0 Colorado run (37-12, CU). The Cougars finally got on the board again the next possession, but a Dutat bucket reestablished the Buffs' 25-point lead (39-14, CU). BYU scored inside, then Masogayo found Dutat down low (41-16, CU). The Cougars made two free throws to end the half (41-18, CU).
