Buffs Add Australian Guard Alex Dickeson

April 22, 2026 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER – Alex Dickeson has agreed to join the Colorado men's basketball program for the 2026-27 season, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Wednesday.

A 6-foot, 4-inch guard, Dickeson averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 20 games over the last three years with the Australian Youth National Team Program. He helped Australia to a sixth-place finish at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland, averaging 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds. Dickeson averaged 9.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists as Australia won the 2023 U16 Asian Cup in Qatar.

"Alex has good size and is an elite passer already," Boyle said. "He's got great court vision. He's obviously young, going to be in college for the first time, but has played against high-level competition in Australia and we can't wait to get him on campus and see his skill set."

A native of Eastwood, South Australia, Dickeson played with the Center of Excellence in Australia's National Basketball League One (NBL1) in 2025, averaging 10.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists over 21 games.

Dickeson got his first taste of Colorado basketball, seeing the Buffaloes play during their tour of Australia last summer.

"He is, quite frankly, a product of our trip to Australia," Boyle said. "He got a chance to see us play, so Colorado was on his radar. He can provide some depth for us and certainly impact our team next year. He's going to be a big-time player at Colorado."

Dickeson participated in two Basketball Without Borders events, claiming MVP honors at BWB Asia 2024 in Perth, Australia, averaging 10.8 points per game. He was named to that camp's all-star team and also won the 3-point competition.
