May 06, 2026 | Men's Golf
BOULDER — The University of Colorado men's golf team is headed back to the NCAA postseason, earning a spot in the Bryan Regional of the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, which was announced by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee on Wednesday, May 6.
The Buffaloes earned the No. 9 seed in the Bryan Regional, which will be played May 18-20 at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M. The six regional sites will each feature 54 holes across three rounds, with the top five teams and the top individual not on an advancing team advancing to the NCAA Championship Finals at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 29-June 3.
"We are excited about going to Texas A&M for the regional," head coach Roy Edwards said. "College Station is one of the best college towns in the country and Traditions Club is one of the best golf facilities on any college campus. I'm confident the players will really like it."
This marks the 25th NCAA Regional appearance in program history for Colorado and the third trip in the last four seasons after also advancing in 2023 and 2025.
Traditions Club at Texas A&M is a Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-design stretching 7,146 yards. The championship layout features stately hardwoods, natural creeks and wetlands, along with views of Kyle Field and the Texas A&M campus skyline.
The Bryan Regional field features 14 teams, including 11 ranked inside the top 100 nationally: No. 4 Texas, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 21 New Mexico, No. 27 Texas A&M, No. 34 TCU, No. 40 UNC-Wilmington, No. 45 UNLV, No. 54 Colorado, No. 58 Cincinnati and No. 66 Chattanooga, along with Miami (Ohio), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Colorado has competed against four teams in the Bryan Regional field this season, posting a combined 3-7-1 head-to-head record against New Mexico (1-3), TCU (1-2), Cincinnati (1-1) and UNCW (0-1).
Colorado enters postseason play with a 139-60-4 overall Division I head-to-head record this season.
"The regional is not a hard concept to figure out; you play well and you advance," Edwards said. "If we just focus on ourselves for the next two weeks, we'll be in a great position at the end of the tournament."
Edwards announced the lineup for regionals, which will feature senior Hunter Swanson, juniors Brandon Knight and Ty Holbrook, sophomore Parker Paxton and graduate student Jackson Rivera, while freshman Tyler Long will serve as the alternate.
Swanson, who graduated last Saturday, enters the NCAA Regional with 49 career events played, the most among active Buffaloes. Under Edwards, all 43 seniors who have completed their eligibility have earned their degrees.
Swanson leads Colorado with a 70.47 stroke average this season, followed by Knight (71.03), Holbrook (71.17), Paxton (71.69) and Rivera (71.78).
At the Big 12 Championship, Holbrook paced the Buffs with a tie for 32nd after shooting 287 (+7), while Swanson tied for 37th at 288 (+8). Knight finished 68th at 298, Rivera 70th at 302 and Paxton 72nd at 307.
Colorado has posted four top-three finishes this season, highlighted by a team title at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate where the Buffs shot 34-under par for the tournament. The Buffs also finished tied for third at the WSU Palouse Collegiate and Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate while placing second at the CU-Mark Simpson Invitational and Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
"Getting a selection into the NCAA Tournament is a culmination of a really nice season," Edwards said. "Congrats to all the guys on our team and everyone who supports our program for getting us in this position."
The Buffs will take an experienced lineup into postseason play, as Swanson, Knight and Holbrook have combined for 114 career events entering the regional.
"We have now been three of the last four years so we take an experienced group to Texas A&M," Edwards said.
Swanson has recorded three top-10 finishes this season, including a tie for fifth at the WSU Palouse Collegiate and a tie for eighth at The Prestige at PGA West. Knight and Holbrook each have four top-10 finishes this season.
Colorado owns 25 subpar team rounds this season, including a season-best 266 (18-under) in the second round of the Ka'anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER.
Edwards said Traditions Club will provide a complete postseason test for the Buffaloes.
"Course will be a good test," Edwards said. "Has some length but isn't overpowering. Have to be very consistent in all facets of the game and have a good week with approach shots."
Colorado is one of 12 Big 12 Conference programs selected to NCAA Regionals. BYU and Kansas will compete in the Athens Regional in Georgia, Colorado, Cincinnati and TCU will play in the Bryan Regional in Texas, Arizona State and Utah will compete in the Columbus Regional in Ohio, Texas Tech will head to the Corvallis Regional in Oregon, Oklahoma State, Arizona and West Virginia will compete in the Marana Regional in Arizona, and Houston will play in the Winston-Salem Regional in North Carolina.
