Buffs Host North Texas In Mile High Hoops Classic

Free exhibition game scheduled for Oct. 18 at MSU Denver’s Auraria Event Center.
BOULDER – The first public glimpse of the 2026-27 Colorado men's basketball team in action won't come at the base of the Flatirons, but rather in the heart of downtown Denver.
Colorado will play North Texas in a free exhibition game, billed as the Mile High Hoops Classic, on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m., at the Auraria Event Center on the Metropolitan State University of Denver Campus.
The Mile High Hoops Classic is designed to bring the Colorado men's basketball program closer to the Denver community, and the free exhibition will give Mile High City fans a chance to see the Buffaloes in their own backyard.
"We always expect people from Denver to come to Boulder to support us, and this is really a step in the right direction of taking our program to Denver," Colorado men's basketball Head Coach Tad Boyle said. "I want the Denver community to get to know our team, to get kids from Denver that don't have the chance to come to Boulder for a basketball game; they have a chance to go to Metro State and see our team."
Colorado Athletics is partnering with youth sports organizations in Denver to enable 300 kids to attend the game.
Another 300 tickets will be split between students from CU Boulder and CU Denver, which shares the Auraria Campus with MSU Denver.
A limited number of free tickets will be made available to the public on Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m., online at https://cubuffs.com/tickets.
"I hope the Denver community comes out to see us and support us," Boyle said. "And hopefully sees enough to want to go to Boulder for a game or two or to buy season tickets.
"Or, 'I really like this team.' For that, we've got to play well, play hard, and put a good product on the floor. And I think we will. It's an opportunity for us to show that to a different part of the state because we are the University of Colorado. We represent this entire state, not just Boulder, not just Denver, but the entire state, and hopefully it will be a great environment and a great day."
