
Buffs Conclude Day Two of Potts Invitational

BOULDER – On a day the University of Colorado track and field team remembered Coach Bill McCartney and celebrated the career of Karen Lechman, the Buffaloes did not disappoint on the final day of the Potts Invitational at the Indoor Practice Facility on Saturday.
Nick Bianco continued to shine, kicking off the day in the 60-meter hurdles with a first-place finish in 8.09 seconds, just shy of his personal best of 7.94. CU swept the top four spots, with Cayden Roberson making an impressive collegiate debut in second place with a time of 8.19. He was followed by Jason Swabik and Drake Miller to round out the top four. Bianco finished the weekend with three first-place finishes.
Colorado was the only school to enter athletes in the women's 60-meter hurdles. Jada Green claimed victory in 8.99 seconds, four-tenths of a second off her personal best. Allie Routledge set a new personal mark with a second-place finish in 9.20 seconds.
In the men's 60 meters, Johnny Homsy placed second in the final with a time of 6.80, just a tenth of a second off his personal best.
Freshman Cydnee Taylor continued her strong start to her collegiate career, taking first in the 60 meters in 7.65 seconds, just shy of her personal best of 7.57. The CU record of 7.34, set by Amaris Buchanan in 2001, remains unbroken.
The Buffaloes dominated the men's mile, claiming the top seven spots. Christopher Cherry led the way with a time of 4:04.61, followed by Kole Mathison, Ethan Edgeworth, and Drew Costelow in their first collegiate indoor mile.
In the women's mile, former CU standout Emma Coburn returned to campus, making her Indoor Practice Facility debut. She did not disappoint, taking first place and breaking the facility record with a time of 4:33.29 while representing Team New Balance. Emma Hadley was the top collegiate finisher, placing third with a time of 5:04.26, shattering her previous best of 5:17.26.
The Indoor Practice Facility hosted the 600 meters for the first time. Cole Romig finished first with a time of 1:19.23, closely followed by AJ Galvicic in 1:19.80. Kaela Edwards, competing for Team Adidas, took first place on the women's side, while CU's Abby Miller led the Buffaloes with a time of 44.38.
Aubrey Leneweaver set a personal best in the 400 meters, finishing second in 56.28 seconds.
In the men's 200 meters, Johnny Homsy (21.86) and Cade Vanhout (22.04) finished third and fourth, respectively, both setting personal bests. Myla Wilkes (24.57) and Cydnee Taylor (24.68) took first and second in their collegiate debut in the women's 200 meters.
The men's (3:14.87) and women's (3:53.23) 4x400 relay teams capped off the meet with first-place finishes in a head-to-head battle against the Colorado School of Mines.
The Buffaloes will return to the Indoor Practice Facility for the Colorado Classic, with field events starting Friday, Jan. 17, and running events on Saturday, Jan. 18. The meet will feature a highly anticipated attempt to break the under the four-minute mile mark, with the current facility record standing at 4:00.08, which is a current state record hel by Sam Parsons.
