Buffs Building On Best Start In 10 Years

THE BUFFALOES: Colorado is 9-1 overall, rebounding from its first loss of the season to defeat UTSA, 88-64, on Dec. 13. The Buffaloes are off to their best start through 10 games since the 2015-16 team was also 9-1 en route to an 11-1 start.
Colorado tied season-highs in rebounds (46), overall field goal attempts (69) and 3-point attempts (23). The Buffaloes had a season-high 17 offensive rebounds, its most since grabbing 18 against Kansas on Feb. 24, 2025.
Colorado used a big second half against UTSA, shooting 62.2 percent. It was the sixth time in 10 games this season Colorado has shot 60 percent or better in the second half. Colorado ended up at 49.3 percent for the game, just the fourth time in 10 games the Buffaloes have been held under 50 percent.
Colorado had 21 assists, its third 20-plus assist game of the season and second-best total (24 vs. UC Davis). The Buffaloes have won six straight and are 39-2 in the Tad Boyle era when dishing out at least 20 assists.
Colorado had 11 turnovers, which ties a season-high, however, once again meets the long-held team goal of 11 or fewer turnovers in a game, meaning the Buffaloes have reached that goal in all 10 games.
Barrington Hargress (23 points, 9-12 FG, 5-7 3FG) season-high in scoring and the 25th overall 20-point game of his career (24 with UC Riverside). His five 3-point field goals tie his career-high; he had five with UCR against UC San Diego on Jan. 18, 2025. His nine total field goals and five 3-point field goals made are both season highs.
For the first time this season, Colorado did not have at least four players score in double figures. Hargress led the way with 23, Sebastian Rancik added 15 and Bangot Dak had 10.
Josiah Sanders (7 points, 6 rebounds) career-high in rebounds and tied his personal best with three field goals made.
Isaiah Johnson (9 points, 6 assists) career-high six assists and has 12 in the last three games (4.0 apg). Has just one turnover in that span. The one turnover came against UTSA snapping a six-game streak without a turnover. Held under double figures in scoring for just the second time.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS: Portland State is 6-3 overall and comes to Boulder after beating George Fox 94-50 at home. The Vikings are averaging 83.1 points per game, shooting just under 48.7 percent from the field. Portland State has been solid on the offensive glass, leading the Big Sky Conference in offensive rebounds with 13.6 per game. Defensively, the Vikings are allowing 69.8 points per game, and have held opponents to 40.6 percent shooting which leads the Big Sky and ranks 70th in the nation. Portland State is also the Big Sky's top team in turnovers forced with 14.6 per game.
Senior forward Teri Miller Jr. leads the Vikings at 17.5 points per game, and senior guard Jaylin Henderson is right behind averaging 17.0 points per game. The duo accounts for 34.5 points a night which is about 40 percent of the Vikings offense. Henderson leads the conference and ranks 15th in the nation in assists at 6.4 per game. Senior center Tre-Vaughn Minott controls the offensive glass with 3.78 offensive rebounds a game, good for 15th in the country and first in the conference. Two other players average double digits for the Vikings with Minott having 11.1 and junior guard Keyon Kensie Jr. with 10.3.
