2004? As a junior, Ernemann had the most productive season of his career with nine finishes in 10 races. He kicked off his third season with a 23rd place finish in the giant slalom in the Utah Invitational before suffering a disqualification on his second slalom run the next day. He rebounded four days later in the slalom to turn in a season best 16th at Nevada . His best overall weekend was the CU Invitational where he finished 19th in the GS and a near-career best 13th in the slalom. Calling the NCAA West Regional the keynote point of the season, he finished a season-best 15th in the GS and a disappointing 37th in the slalom after missing a gate in his morning run, falling short of qualifying for what would have been his first NCAA Championship meet.
2003? Ernemann improved 11 places from his freshman Montana State Invitational GS run to his sophomore when he finished 14th in the season opener. The next day, he finished 25th in the slalom. He went on to turn in top-20 finishes in his next six races, including a career best eighth place GS finish in the CU Invitational and career best 12th place effort in the slalom at Western State. His freshman to sophomore year improvement continued through his last race, a 14th place finish in the GS at the NCAA West Regional, a race he had finished 21st in the year before.
2002? Ernemann had eight top-25 finishes in 10 attempts as a freshman. He opened his collegiate career with 25th and 23rd place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom, respectively, at the Montana State Invitational. A week later at
High School? As a sophomore in 1998, he was the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) giant slalom state title winner. Upon commencement he was a two-time Chapin Wright Fitness Award winner and two-time Dick Nelson “Best Skier” winner. He also took home the Marc Tacha Improvement Award as a prep skier. He graduated from Aspen in 2000 and took a year off from classes before enrolling at CU.
Other? He skied for the Aspen Club team for eight years and finished eighth in the GS in the world in his age group in ’98, before skiing one year for Vail. In 1999 he finished ninth in the SG at North American Juniors before a runner-up finish a year later in the same event at the Rolex Junior Olympics. He won the GS in 2000, also at the Rolex Junior Olympics.
